The 21.1km course is a loop, mostly on a flat scenic road on the edge of Lake Taupo.
Running surfaces include sealed highway, footpath, formed track and some firm farmland. The course is marshaled and signposted. The course is not suitable for wheelchairs and all entrants must complete the same course.
The 1/2 marathon will start at the Tongariro Domain (Great Lake Centre). The running surface will be highway, all the way out to Mahuta Road. This is followed by firm formed tracks and pavement back to the Tongariro Domain.
