Magic Mile Challenge

The Magic Mile is the summer 2011-12 club challenge beginning 1st December right the way through until 31st March with a run-off possible around Easter weekend.

This gives EVERYONE plenty of time to work on their fastest 1 mile run, a whole four months to perfect that time.  To ensure everyone runs the same distance we have chosen a course which has been accurately measured.

The idea is that you run the course for the first time and record that time honestly and then over the four month period see how much you can improve your time.  Each time you run your magic mile send through your time and we'll up the stakes as you move closer to your best time overall.

Obviously we're looking for the club's fastest magic mile along the way but primarily this is about YOU working to improve YOUR time as much as possible and we will acknowledge the best improved time from no. run to the final run and most improved.

The course for your magic mile is as follows:

Start at the speed bump at the back of Manly Park i.e. far side from the beach. Photo attached of the start and finish line – it’s on the access to The Circle.

Then run 2 full laps of the park road (including short footpath portion on Laurence St) and finish back at the speed bump. This is exactly 1 mile. For consistency we’ll go anti-clockwise, as that’s the traditional direction on a 400m track.

Email your times through to me, Annette and have fun surprising yourself exactly how fast you can run YOUR MAGIC MILE.

Thanks to Andrew Cave for organising this challenge.
